Kids can make you go around in circles - and I mean literally - when you try to make them eat at home. So it’s quite easy to imagine them tossing the contents of their tiffin into the trash can at school – and come home famished. Everything that’s healthy and nutritious is not the favourite of your children. Junk food attracts them, and it’s a constant struggle for parents to stop them from eating it. At home, It is still manageable, but how do you make your child eat, and eat right – is a million dollar question. That is why as a parent you need to pack healthy, nutritious but interesting school snack for kids.

Paneer Cheese Toast – A Filling School Snack For Kids
Well, This one is quite easy and makes for a full nutritious meal. Toast one side of your brown bread. Stir fry the Paneer with very little oil. Put the already toasted side up, spread some melted cheese on it. Put paneer crumbs over it, sprinkle some coriander leaves, black pepper and a pinch of salt. Spread some more melted cheese and toast with the other side down. Cut these into triangles, small squares or other interesting shapes.

Soya Cutlets
Steam potato, carrots, peas & beans and mash them well. Boil soya chunks for two minutes in water, drain and squeeze them, Wash 2-3 times and squeeze the water out. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin and ginger garlic and sauté for a few minutes. Add the mashed potatoes, carrot, peas and beans. Saute for 2 minutes, cover and cook until its all mixed well. Add spices and salt and stir well. Add soya and coriander leaves and cook for another 3-4 minutes. After the mixture binds well, take it off the stove. Make patties of the mix, dip it in a slurry of rice or corn flour and shallow fry each until golden brown. Pack it in your child’s tiffin with green chutney. Makes for an excellent school snack for kids.

Moong Dal Palak Cheela – Interesting Kids Tiffin Ideas
Wash and steam palak for just one minute. Boil moong dal and grind it. Mash the boiled palak and ground moong dal. Add some besan, preferably roasted, water, chilli powder, (green chillies are an option too) turmeric powder and salt to the batter. Add coriander leaves, mint leaves and mix well. Heat a pan with some oil and pour the batter onto it. Spread evenly depending upon the size of cheelas you want. Stir fry both sides until golden brown. Pack with green or red chutney in your child’s tiffin box.
